Charlie Clinton for Alperton

Local resident Charlie Clinton has been selected as the Liberal Democrat Candidate in the upcoming Council by-election for Alperton, following Cllr Anton Georgiou standing down.

Endorsed by Anton, Charlie has lived in Alperton since early 2021, since when he has been supporting Anton and the local Liberal Democrat team. He has also spent time helping in the local community – particularly by reporting fly tipping, broken pavements, and potholes, as well as helping to clean up the canal.

At 37 years old, law graduate Charlie has spent the last 17 years working in marketing & tech development—most recently within sustainability roles, while also being a part-time self-employed musician.

He has previously been an elected representative both for students at UCL, and his follow employees at a large multinational company. He is now running for Brent council because he is keen to devote more of his time to helping in his local community and wants to see more Liberal Democrats elected to challenge Labour’s abysmal record in Brent.

Clinton also took the fight to Labour in the general election as the Liberal Democrat candidate running against Keir Starmer.

If elected as a councillor in Alperton I will be a strong voice opposing a Labour Party who take their residents for granted.

Priorities

If we want to breathe new life into Brent, we need more Liberal Democrats who will stand up for what you need – not another Labour Councillor who will rubber stamp decisions by the Labour leadership.

  1. Fighting Labour Neglect: Charlie will build on Anton’s work with the council and local police to tackle fly tipping, crime and anti-social behaviour such as paan spitting. He’s already been speaking to councillors from other boroughs to identify new ideas & solutions.
  2. Investing to improve our area: The many new developments in Alperton have put huge pressure on local services and infrastructure – but they’ve also raised £25m which Labour are also refusing to spend on desperately needed community infrastructure: including expanded health services, community spaces, outdoor facilities, and wholesale repairs to broken roads and pavements. Charlie will fight to unlock these funds for projects that matter to residents.
  3. Standing up for leaseholders and renters: Our housing crisis goes beyond just affordability - but also simple fairness. Renters and leaseholder pay increasingly extortionate sums for ever poorer quality and service. Charlie will do everything he can to hold the council, landlords, management companies and developers to account.
