Charlie Clinton wins Alperton By-Election

Councillor Charlie Clinton

In addition to the speech, Charlie issued the following public statement following his election as councillor:

"Thank you to the residents of Alperton for putting their faith in the Liberal Democrats — and for giving me the chance to carry on the amazing work of Anton Georgiou. It is a privilege to be the new councillor, and it is a responsibility I do not take lightly.

Alperton has been the site of many new developments in recent years, and yes, we need to build more homes, but I believe that a home needs more than four walls and a roof. A home should be a place you can build a life for yourself and your family.

This seems to have been forgotten recently in Brent. The complete lack of investment in our area is simply not good enough. Alperton residents — both new and old — deserve better.

You should feel safe, be able to see a local GP, send your kids to the local school, park your car on your own street, and have access to community spaces and thriving local businesses.

You should not be tripping over mattresses, bags of rubbish or broken pavements when you step out of your front door.

As the new councillor for Alperton, I will work hard all year round to fight for what the residents need, and to make Alperton a home we can all be proud of."
