Paul Lorber for Brent West
Paul Lorber was born in Czechoslovakia and came to the UK at the age of 13 after the Russian invasion of his country in 1968. He has lived in Brent since 1969 – first in Willesden and then in Sudbury and North Wembley.
Paul attended Kilburn High School and Manchester University and later qualified as an accountant. He is now a full time volunteer helping to run Barham Community Library.
Paul was elected as one of the first Liberals on Brent Council in 1982. When the Liberal Democrats gained the largest number of Councillors in Brent in 2006, Paul became Leader of Brent Council – a position he held for 4 years.
After a gap of 8 years, Paul was re-elected to Brent Council in 2022, topping the poll in Sudbury ward.
Paul brings with him many years of local service for the people of Brent including a remarkable 30 years of service as a school governor at Barham Primary School in Wembley.
As part of his election campaign, Paul will be highlighting the need for improvements to NHS services, including easier access to GPs and dentists, investment in local education and truly affordable homes, and a fairer tax system which supports pensioners and people on low incomes.
I am proud to be standing again to represent local people in Parliament. Being a local representative is an honour which I take very seriously and regard as an extension to my years of volunteering for the place which I call my home, and the people who live here.
